FOUNDERS HACKDAYS

The Founders Hackdays are about unfolding the joint potential offered by research and entrepreneurship. Highly qualified teams with members drawn from both areas will have three days and the best possible conditions to develop a market-relevant business idea.

The hackathon is partnered by CITEC – the Excellence-Cluster for Cognitive Interaction Technology associated to the Bielefeld University. As Founders Foundation we host this event in direction to push the next generation of deep-tech startups from the areas robotics, artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality and blockchain.

BUILD YOUR STARTUP BASED ON CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGIES

Robotics
Using robots will be a major way we will get things done in the physical world. The broad definition reaches from Kuka’s industry-robots to Tesla’s self-driving cars.
Artificial Intelligence: Speech- & Image-Recognition
Technologies with the ability to process data from the natural world like images, speech and videos lead to the foundation which enables machines to interact in the human world. We believe there is still more to expect than Alexa and Siri.
Artificial Intelligence: Knowledge & Semantics
Knowledge and semantic AI-technologies have the capability to extract meaning from huge datasets and even execute decisions based on that information automatically. Machine-Learning and Data-Science are known as typical buzzwords from this field.
Virtual & Augmented Reality
Modifying or even recreating the way how people observe and experience this world has established itself in parts already. Google Glass and Oculus Rift might just have shown us the tip of the iceberg of a reality which is heading our way.
Bring your own Vision! Blockchain, BioTech & more
Besides the technologies which are researched at CITEC there are a couple of more trends which contain huge potential to shape the future we are going to live in. Blockchain and BioTech are just two of the fields in which we welcome ideas for this weekend.

WHO SHOULD JOIN?

Engineers

As Engineer you are the builder of the technology. Through your expertise in software / hardware development you will develop the core-technology of the product – mostly by coding.

Requirements

Fundamental knowledge and understanding of Software (or Hardware) Engineering. You should be able to develop in one programming language like Java, Python, C++, C#, PHP, Javascript etc. and also know about version-control like Git or Mercurial.

Bonus assets:
If you want to develop prototypes in a certain area it is valuable if you bring some domain specific knowledge. For example to develop AI-Applications: experience in Machine-Learning & Data-Science Frameworks (TensorFlow, OpenCV, Numpy, …).

Business Dev’s

As Business Developer you work with the team to create a structured business idea around the team’s product. Your activities can reach from building a go-to-market strategy to networking with relevant contacts as well as selling and communicating the company’s product and vision.

Requirements

Passion for deep-technologies like AI, VR/AR or robotics, and a strong belief in the capacity of tech-startups to change the world. An asset: experience in marketing, sales, or entrepreneurship. A strong passion for innovation.

Designers

As Designer you will develop visual elements for the finished product and presentation including color schemes, fonts, icons and buttons.

Requirements

Fundamental knowledge of Communication-Design: Presentations, websites, apps or even physical products. An asset: experience with Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, CAD or other professional design tools.

ARE YOU A DEEP-TECH EXPERT?
APPLY TO BE A SCIENCE LEAD!

As Science Lead, you will primarily be involved with the core technology of the product and the competitive advantage. This opens up the opportunity for you to turn a top technological competence into a reality that is your very own company.

Science Lead for Robotics

I am working with AMiRo: table-top robots which could be applied to adaptive and autonomous part carriers. AMiRo is a novel modular robot platform that can be easily extended and customized in hard- and software. There are various business applications like improving indoor logistics for warehouses and factories.
