Hackers and businesses do similar things

From 16th – 18th June, the Founders Hack is taking place in Bielefeld – a hack-a-thon, during which six industrial companies are incorporating current industry problems as pre-defined challenges throughout the weekend. The participating teams of hackers and business founders then have 2 and a half days to solve these challenges, convince the jury and therefore create the foundations for their own startup.

Founders Foundation takes stock – the digital camp pioneers get started

After over a year, the Founders Foundation is taking stock. Looking back on the past year, approximately 80 startup founders have been trained and 0.7 million Euro worth of investment has been amassed by the startups. On Tuesday (28th February), the startups from the Founders Foundation’s incubator programme presented their developments from the past six months to investors, business angels and stakeholders from the region during the demo day.

For the town of Bielefeld, an innovative economy is just as important as the preservation of their landmark – the Sparrenburg castle. On Wednesday 29th June 2016, the Lord Mayor of Bielefeld, Pit Clausen, visited the Founders Foundation’s premises for the first time. Clausen wanted to see the startup founder initiative for himself and to get to know the people behind it. He was accompanied by Brigitte Meier and Gregor Moss, the managing directors of WEGE – Economic Research Bielefeld.

With the motto “OWL startups”, the Founders Foundation was officially opened on 14th June 2016 and the Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) region became part of the international startup scene. The Mohn family, as well as innovators and startups from OWL, put together a creative ground-breaking ceremony for their region.
